Sometimes little, irritating things happen that seem to mess up our plans. And often we complain and never see past the lemon handed to us. And sometimes as the day goes on, we begin to see how maybe things happened just the way they were supposed to…
My car won’t start (I think both my body and my car prefer the warmer SoCal weather over this). And my Dad is stuck at work (he’s supposed to be on his way to Ohio) because his car won’t start now… And Mom can’t get away from BK because they’re short handed…
So I spent the last 45 minutes feeling very anxious about finding a way to work and calling in and telling them what was going on. I called the manager to tell him before I got a hold of anyone and he sounded disappointed but when I called the second time and said I had no way to get there unless someone else was going in and could swing by here (but no one even close or heading in soon) or rent a car (but the hours I worked wouldn’t even pay for that) – and he was like “don’t go that far!” Which made me feel better. At least he knows I was trying…
Funny thing is, I did have a migraine this morning and was fighting it in order to make it to work to begin with – so this gives me more “rest” and I can keep it cool and dark in here to help with that… plus I need to get some other things finished and now will have a chance to do some work on that…
But here is the clincher – Dad won’t be home for lunch (wouldn’t have anyhow) and Mom works till 2 and I would have been gone so Elmer would have been home alone – and he had a good day yesterday so we didn’t think he’d have a problem getting himself lunch – but he’s been having some problems today so I’m thinking it’s actually good I’m home…
